Sitting in the airport
Well, I managed to pretty much finish all of my to do list, minus maybe one thing? I’m sitting in the airport waiting to go to Louisiana and I don’t have Internet access at the moment because I don’t want to spend $6.00 to use it for 30 minutes. SO, I can’t check my list on my blog, but I’m pretty sure all that I had listed to finish before I left home was finished except setting up the FTP for OPA - and really that is sort of set up, I just need to load all the files for the organization to the FTP and then write up some instructions for all the board members on how to use it.
Anyway…I finished everything up late Tuesday night. Eric got home about 8:30ish from work and I finished up the last OPA things I needed to do and then we started packing things up and decided to just leave that night rather than go to bed and end up leaving late. I hadn’t been to bed before about 4 AM for at least a week, so I figured I’d be able to drive a few hours while he slept and then once I was too tired if he was still tired we could just stop. Plus leaving in the middle of the night, we figured we could get to his parents about dinner time rather than bed time and the girls might be a little happier. It’s no fun to travel in a car 14-15 hours and then get out and be told it’s bedtime. We ended up getting on the road just before 2 AM. I drove until 6 and then stopped to get gas, breakfast and let everyone potty. I thought by stopping at a nice Loves truck stop we could make it a quick all-in-one stop. OH how I was wrong. The pay at the pump didn’t work and the lady instead charged my gas to another person’s credit card and it became this ridiculous scenario to get it all straightened out - 25 minutes later we were finally done with gas! Then the McDonalds at the stop was so understaffed (2 people working - 1 cooking and 1 for the counter and drive through) for the busiest travel day of the year and got opened and moving a little late so that took another 20 minutes just to get our little order. Finally we left at 7 AM! Eric then drove for a few hours and I got to sleep. We stopped for lunch about 12:30 and had another fiasco. The line for the men’s room at the Wendy’s took Eric 10 minutes and the line to order went all the way to the other side of the restaurant. We ended up just getting our food to go and ran by the Walmart near by for the girls and I to go to the bathroom. Finally about 1:15 we were on the road again, and I drove until about 3:30 when we got into the DFW area. Eric then drove from there and we arrived at his parents house by 5 PM. All in all, 15 hours in the car with about 12 1/2 being actual driving time.
We had a lovely Thanksgiving with Eric’s family yesterday and then I spent the evening getting my things packed and prepped for my shoot. We were up at 5:30 this morning and I was here sitting at my gate ready to go by 6:40 AM. My flight leaves in about 40 minutes still, and hopefully I can just sleep a couple hours during the flight. When I get in, I will be putzing around about an hour and then I get to meet up with my friend Katy for lunch. Katy is such an awesome photographer and has taught me so much via Hello over the last 2 years. I can’t wait to meet her in person. She’s even offered to come 2nd shoot for me at the wedding (as she lives about 20 from where it will be) and I’m just ecstatic to have her help - I couldn’t be luckier. After lunch I’ll be heading up to Anita’s to get ready for the rehearsal and dinner tonight. I’ll be staying with her tonight so I can be with her tomorrow to take pictures while she’s getting ready and then the wedding will be tomorrow night. I’ll be in a hotel tomorrow so I can be up eeeaaarrrlly to catch my 6 AM flight back to TX, just in time for Eric to pick me up and start our long drive back to IL.
Well…now that I’ve typed this lovely long boring post, I need to repack up my things and use the restroom one last time before they start boarding for my flight. Hopefully I’ll get an Internet connection sometime today that I can actually publish this post to the blog. If not….geee that will be funny if it has to wait until I’m home. ha! Maybe I’ll have a photo or two to add to it by the time I get an internet connection.
Hope your Turkey day was great and your black Friday shopping is successful!
