Alyssa’s got strep

again…she just had it in April last year, and she’s got it again now.  I think this is the 2nd time for her since we’ve moved here and Ky has had it at least once, maybe 2x also.  What is it about this area?  My throat has been scratchy all day yesterday and today now too, and I’m soooo praying it’s just dry.  We spent 3 HOURS sitting in the prompt care yesterday waiting for her to be seen, and then went to get the prescription filled.  In all, we were gone 4 hours and I practically accomplished nothing yesterday.  After about 2 hours waiting I almost left and was just going to call and get her an appointment for today.  She had a very low fever on Friday night, was fine Saturday morning so we went about our day as normal.  Saturday night after we got home from dinner she showed me this little red spot on her side.  I told her to lift her shirt so I could see if there was any more, and sure enough she had a rash.  It wasn’t too bad, but it looked like the same strep rash the girls have had before.  It was already 9 PM and she didn’t really have a fever so I sent her to bed and figured we’d wait to see how she was in the morning.  Yesterday morning at 7:30 she was COVERED!  Her whole body, her neck, and even her face.  She still didn’t really have much of a fever and she said her throat only hurt a little bit.  I went ahead and had her take a shower because she said her head was itching, and I didn’t see any rash there.  I called the nurse line while she was in the shower and the nurse I talked to said it could be strep or it could also just be a viral rash, which there is nothing to do.  So, we sat on it a few hours.  I let her play a little while, watch a movie, and then we ate lunch and then finally went ahead and went since she was still covered in rash.  She still said her throat wasn’t that sore, so I didn’t know if it really was going to be strep.  I figured it would be slow in the prompt care being a Sunday, but nooope.  SO, anyhow…glad I went ahead and waited it out since it did turn out to be strep.

SOO, yesterday was Eric’s and I first date 14 years ago.  Our first date ended up being an almost all day date as we were supposed to have a test in Computer Science that morning.  We had studied for it the day before, but then on Jan 10 there was a big freeze in the area and the campus was all closed down, all classes canceled etc.  We went to lunch together since there was no test, and then still went on our “official date” later that night.  We laugh now when we look back on how we able to manage to get out and about for a date, but things were to icy for classes!  We went to dinner at Chili’s (I think it was my very first time at Chili’s) and then went to a movie together.  Three weeks later we had a professional picture taken together, and 9 months later we were engaged.  We waited another 1 1/2 years, before we actually got married, but I’ll never forget that first date and the very first kiss Eric gave me (on my forehead! LOL).

We were planning to go out last night to celebrate our anniversary.  We don’t usually celebrate the first date anniversary any more these days, but he had the night off and we figured we’d go ahead and celebrate it and make it an early Valentine’s Day date too.  Well, once Alyssa was diagnosed with strep, I couldn’t really have babysitters come while she was still contagious and oooh was it coooold last night.  When Eric got home from work it was 1 degree with a wind chill of -10.  We figured we’d just go ahead and reschedule and so we’ll be celebrating on Saturday now.  Last night since we were all in and Alyssa wasn’t going to school today, we had family movie night and kept warm.

Friday night, Eric took Alyssa to the Girl Scout Me & My Guy dance.  It was their “date,” and then Kyleigh told him he had to take her on a date Saturday.  So the original plan for the weekend was full of dates for daddy: Alyssa on Friday, Kyleigh on Saturday, and Mommy on Sunday.  Saturday we went on a double date and went out to dinner.  Alyssa and I doubled with Eric and Kyleigh.  LOL  Kyleigh loved the time with daddy, even though it wasn’t just the two of them.  (He did take her to tumbling Friday morning, so they did still get some time alone this weekend).  We’ll have to find another night though were Eric can take Ky out all by herself - Maybe ice cream one night or something.

So..that was our weekend…all out of order! ha

Here’s the layout I did of Eric and Alyssa from their date Friday night.

I used my Colorful Memories papers and elements plus a template by Jen Caputo to create this layout.  You can find the full credits in my SBB gallery

Today the girls had some time with Eric this morning.  Alyssa had to stay home because she has to be on her medication 24 hrs before she can go back to school and isn’t contagious.  We all had lunch together and then when Eric left for work we started our usual daily chores.  After the girls finished were their chores I gave them some time in the play room (I locked the playroom Saturday after another huge meltdown by Alyssa about cleaning it and another endless round of fighting between the two girls.) and they actually got along and played nicely for a while.  At one point, I was sitting at the table in the kitchen going through mail and filling out some papers and they came in to get a drink.  They sat down and Kyleigh said “I not Kyee, I cass.”  They were playing school, and Kyleigh thought her new name was CLASS! LOL  They were having “lunch break” when they came in to have a drink.

Couple shots of the girls playing “school.”  About 10 minutes later, I heard a huge fight and shortly there after Kyleigh came downstairs and said “I don’t wanna play siser no more.”  LOL  I knew it couldn’t last too long - glad I captured a few pictures though before it was over.

Thanks, Sarah! Can’t wait to try it out. My younger one had a rash this past week too - Fifth Disease. Luckily he didn’t feel too sick with it.
