Basement update
We bought some fancy smancy carpet shampooing solution and tried that on the carpet. It still smells awful, so we’ve come to the conclusion a section of the carpet must come out too. So, we went to Lowe’s today to look at our options, and we checked on the extra pieces of carpet left over from the builder… We have enough with the extra to piece back most of what we will have to rip up, and the remaining area the shelving can just go back directly onto the concrete. We’ll have to buy new padding, replace some drywall and insulation, and hope this works. We are planning to rip out our carpet up stairs and put in hard word floor in the spring with Eric’s bonus, so we considered just doing it now and then using the carpet up there to replace down here if we didn’t have enough, but thankfully we should be ok for now. All in all..maybe this won’t cost too too much. We just have to figure out if Eric can reinstall the carpet himself or if we’re going to have to pay someone for that part. He can do all the rest of the work himself. Oh and he does have to fix the shelves some too. The bottoms of them are so wet, some of the wood just fell apart when he took them out. He’s planning to redesign them a bit now though when he fixes them in case of any future situations like this.
So, here’s a couple shots from the basement. This first one is a bit blurry, but it shows that side of the room when the photography studio stuff is set off to the side to let the room be our family room - so it shows the shelves and all the crap we had to take out. Then the others are a couple quick shots I took tonight of everything all torn up. A bunch of stuff is out in the garage (including all the shelves) and in here in the office too.

I haven’t finished any of the baby photos to post yet - I’ve been supervising LOTS of cleaning of the girls’ rooms this weekend and I spent a lot of yesterday upstairs sewing to catch up on things that have collected on my sewing machine for the last couple years! haha Plus the smell down here has been so bad, I just couldn’t stand to be down here long.
