We got up on the wrong side of 8AM today
So last night I was up late and was debating whether I’d get up at 6:30 and get Alyssa off on the bus, or sleep in an extra hour and just drive her (school doesn’t start till 8:30 and it’s only about 10 min away). Since Ky hasn’t been sleeping in any more after Alyssa gets up, going back to bed after she leaves is no longer an option, so…I set my alarm for 6:30, but thought I’d just see how I felt and if Alyssa was awake and then go from there. Both girls were EXTREMELY tired last night - Ky even went to bed at 7:30!
Well, this morning I rolled over and it was after 8 AM!!!! YIKES! I jumped out of bed and found Alyssa still completely passed out as well, and Ky sort of beginning to wake up. I had the hardest time getting Alyssa to wake up, and BARELY got her to school on time.
So, I hadn’t planned on going out shopping this morning, but I figured while we were out already, might as well get what we needed so I wouldn’t have to go back later. I just went to get dog food and apple juice, but left with $150 worth of crap! LOL I picked up a handful of things for Alyssa for Christmas since I was shopping without her (rare) and Ky even talked me into two “pumpeens, Mommy!” LOL She is just absolutely infatuated with pumpkins for some reason.
The rest of the day…all I heard today was “I go potty, mommy”. We started trying potty training a few weeks/month or so ago, and after 2 days of lots of running to the potty but not peeing in the potty and cleaning up pee all over my house…..I said “let’s give this a few more weeks.” Besides Ky was going through a bought of bedtime trouble and I wanted to deal with that first. I wouldn’t say that’s ALL better now, but she’s started sleeping with Alyssa now and Alyssa seems to be fine with it…so whatever! Anyway, over the past couple of weeks she’s asked to go potty here and there and so I just take her diaper off and let her try and often she actually goes. So today after we got back from the store she asked to go…BIG mess cause when she pulled the diaper off it was a HUGE POOPY diaper! ugh…got her partially cleaned and let her sit on the potty and she went! yay..then we finished cleaning her up and as I went to put a diaper on, I realized we were out of our current box of diapers. So, rather than open a new box I got a crazy hair brained idea that I should just put panties on and see if she was ready (something I really should do while the hubby is away). WELL…the good news…she actually did REALLY well. Only one 1/2 accident when I told her NO she couldn’t go potty again because she had already asked to go every 5 min for the last 15 while we were trying to eat lunch and she wasn’t even going. I wanted her to eat a couple of bites of food first. Wellllll this time she really had to go, and stood up in her chair all panicked with a little itty bitty puddle starting. We quickly ran to the potty and then changed her all up and she went pee in the potty a few minutes later. I did also put a pull-up on her for nap time which was just a tad wet when she woke up, but other than those two instances, she’s been dry and using the potty all day! WOW! I never would have thought. We’ll see how tomorrow goes though with a full day of this. The down side though….the kid says she has to go potty EVERY 5 MIN so we spent more than 1/2 of today IN THE BATHROOM! By the end of the day though, I could finally let her sit there by herself and I could tell when she actually went. She was MUCH more excited when she did vs when she just sat there.
Anyhow….the rest of this day…..
I did get some work done this morning/afternoon between potty runs and during nap, but once Alyssa got home from school all heck broke loose (as usual). I didn’t even get to sit back down at my computer between 5:30ish and 10:30 PM! ugh. Dinner turned into a disaster…I was making Beef Stroganoff and last week I went shopping for this and last weeks groceries all at once so I wouldn’t have to do another big trip while Eric was gone. Apparently though I missed the can of cream of mushroom, but I didn’t know that until the noodles and hamburger meat were done! ugh. I asked a neighbor if they had any - no luck. I called my mom, but my dad answered since she wasn’t there yet and he told me to substitute clam chowder or evaporated milk! ICK…. so of course I said thanks but no thanks and called my mom’s cell phone! LOL She told me to use brown gravy, which of course I didn’t have a packet of, but I made some with beef bouillon and that seemed to work out. Wasn’t as good as it usually is, but it wasn’t awful.
After I cleaned up dinner, I had to make 3 Girl Scout calls. The first went quickly - maybe 5 min. The second…OMG! The lady talked to me for an HOUR and my kids were all over the place. Finally when I got off the phone and was in the middle of getting the girls ready for bed the phone rang again - 3rd call calling me back (I had actually called her 1st and left a message). So needless to say…my kids should have been in bed 1 1/2 hrs before they were tonight.
Hopefully the can wake up in the morning!
Soooo finally after all the chaos settled and the kids were in bed I was able to sit down and finish up the newsletter and it has now been sent! If you are signed up and didn’t receive it, let me know! I know at least one person isn’t getting her emails, so I’m curious if anyone else is having this problem.
Wow…you know…my day felt so insane and crazy, but writing this out just didn’t sound as bad as it felt. Either way, I survived! ha
and with that…it’s already almost 1 am again, and so…to be sure I get up on the RIGHT side of 8 AM tomorrow, I should be getting to bed soon.

Wow! I’m tired just reading about your day! My youngest DS turned 2 in May and he’s nowhere NEAR ready for potty training. Kudos to you and Ky’s efforts. Sounds like she’s doing great. TFS.
